Home Theater VR: An advanced virtual reality video player

Home Theater VR is a versatile VR player that offers a unique and highly flexible virtual reality experience. Unlike other VR players, it stands out with its unmatched features and customizable options. It can be used with nearly every Android phone and headset without the need for compatibility with external VR services. All adjustments, including IPD, can be made directly within the app.

• Video Sources

Home Theater VR supports various video sources:

• Local Files: Play videos stored on your phone or memory card with the in-app file browser or open them from other file browsers using "Open With" or "Send To" options.
• Web Streams: Watch YouTube videos directly without the need for a separate web browser.
• HTTP Video Streams: Stream videos from VLC, FFMPEG, or other video streaming software. To stream videos from your PC, use the companion app "Stream Helper," which connects to your Windows desktop and allows for streaming using VLC.
• Web Browser: Browse the web and access sites like YouTube within the app. A gamepad is recommended to fully utilize this feature.
• PC Monitor Mode: Mirror your PC monitor in VR for gaming, web browsing, reading, or any other activity you typically do on your PC. Use the companion app "HTVR PC Streamer" to establish a simple one-click connection and have full control over stream quality.

Note: PC Monitor streaming is only available on Windows 8 and above. There are two stream types: DDA and SDG. DDA stream mode, suitable for fast-paced gaming, requires an Intel CPU and can stream at up to 60 FPS with low latency. SDG mode is more widely compatible but has a lower frame rate and higher latency, making it less ideal for certain activities.

In addition to the pre-existing theaters, you can also import your own 360° photo to use as the theater environment. Adjust the screen distance and tilt angle of the image for a personalized experience.

• Subtitles

Add subtitles to local videos using the .srt format. Customize text size, alignment, font style, color, and outline color.

• Flexible Head Tracking Options

Choose from five different head tracking modes, including Cardboard, two gyroscope options, and two accelerometer options for phones without a gyro. Simulate full gyro-style tracking without a gyro using the back camera. Manually re-center in any direction or lock the view in place. If screen drift is an issue, try other modes or use auto-center to return to the center at regular intervals. Home Theater VR can be used with or without a headset.

• Controller Support and UI

Home Theater VR supports popular game controllers such as XBOX, Playstation, MOGA, mini VR remotes, and more. The app can be fully navigated without removing the headset, using gaze, a gamepad, or screen taps. Customize the color of the VR pointer. Additionally, a full touch menu is included.

Take screenshots from any video source and save them to any folder on your device.

• Advanced Options

Customize advanced settings to optimize performance and prevent overheating or excessive battery drain on almost any phone.

A comprehensive help section is included within the app, providing troubleshooting information and links to additional resources, tutorials, related downloads, and support.
